It's taken me over 3 years to share this image of an artistically nude photoshoot I did. It was the best experience I've had as an artist. Yes, I do declare myself an artist. It was truly the first time I felt free and powerful in front of the camera. It was an outer body experience where I felt no shame of the woman I was at that time and the woman I was becoming..
If you know me then you know I am a very conservative individual. Growing up in the church, all my childhood life, I was always taught to be modest. Even being raised in a Polynesian household where it was shunned upon to reveal skin. You were labeled "kaulekiki." Meaning a fast girl. I was raised with a strong moral compass by both my maternal and paternal grandparents along with both of my parents. This conservative upbringing is so embedded into my thoughts that I was ashamed to show the beauty that is my own body.
The reason I am sharing this image now is because I finally feel free enough to allow the thing that once caused me shame to bring me freedom to love all of ME.
Happy NEW YEAR from me to YOU ALL! It's been a journey since the last time I've posted here back in 2015, almost 4 years ago. Many things have taken place since this span of time and if I am honest, I felt like my modeling career was on the up and up around this time. I was thriving! I booked many runway shows that provided a platform for people to know my name and my story. Around this time the plus industry was still and is the new kid on the block in fashion. It was fighting to go main stream.
Fast forward to today and many things have changed, the plus size industry has become more and more main stream. There are so many new faces and brands that have surfaced. 2019 is a huge year for me because it's been 6 years since I started my journey as a model. BIG GULP. Yes, for six years I have been modeling professionally however, I started as an amateur model back in 2010. Another BIG GULP. I even recall the first "GIG" I did. I modeled for My Black is Beautiful video segment. I received my first pay check for modeling and I thought, "Boy, I got this SH*#." But that was the farthest thing from the truth. Since I've been modeling, I have never devoted my full attention on pursuing this passion of mine. It wasn't until last year where I actually made more money then I put in photo shoots and traveling expenses, etc. I made revenue, not much but still I celebrate this VICTORY!
This year, I am determined to do many things differently. Please stay tuned to my page for the journey I am about to embark on to take my passion to the next level. #JourneywithP #StrengthinAgreement #PlusModel
NYFW + casting call in Los Angeles is right around the corner on April 25th in Hollywood and for those plus models looking to attend I am really excited to see your faces especially the new ones. When Brandee J, West Coast Editor of Manik Magazine asked me to be apart of this I was so excited because I love the production side of fashion shows. I haven't produced a fashion show in a couple of years now, however, it's still a passion of mine. It gives me a different perspective on what the casting directors is looking for in the talent. Although, I am only one of six judges, I feel like it's my duty as a fellow plus model to share some insight. Manik Magazine, myself, and the team of judges want the best models and hopefully the tips I share will help book the job. For those looking to attend, email your submission to: email@example.com. #NYFWPLUS
I'd love it if you would browse my website and click on i Do Runway to see most of the runway shows I've been privilege to walk in. I've graced the runway for these amazing shows: POSH LAFW, Haute Curves LAFW, NYFW and Fashion Meets Film for Betty Jean Couture, Art Hearts Fashion Los Angeles Fashion Week, and Full Figured Fashion Week 2014.
5 tips for a successful model casting:
1. Show us your amazing personality. Smile. Make eye contact with the judges.
2. Show us your natural beauty. Don't wear tons of makeup, we want to see you.
3. We want to see your BEST walk. Wear comfortable shoes you can strut in. If you have questions about the type of shoes to wear, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your questions.
4. Focus on the moment. Don't become distracted with other things that aren't currently in your control.
5. Bring your BEST professional modeling images (head shot & full body). This may be the last impression so make it count.
Remember, have fun and see you soon. Direct all your questions and inquiries to email@example.com.

Los Angeles Fashion Week 2015, Spring Presentation, I was privileged to walk for an amazing line, Koco Blaq, with designer Daniel Terrell at the Art Hearts Fashion Show. We instantly had a connection. It wasn't until I had a fitting for the upcoming show that I figured out why..we were both Polynesian. This explained why his clothing line was a modern day twist of rock-a-billy and polynesian influence.
On the day of the show, I was able to spend some pre-fashion show craziness time with Daniel at his hair stylists Salon in Beverly Hills. I found out that he was a lovable and kind hearted person who had extensive experience in the industry designing for others, styling, and now creating his own amazing line. Now a few hours before the show started, the backstage crew was finalizing my makeup and hair looks.
Backstage Drama will be in another post. This is a must read because so much takes place before the fashion happens that it's always interesting.
I dedicated this show to my beautiful Samoan Mother, Punipuao. I was so honored, as I walked out on stage, to represent the Koco Blaq Line especially since it represented our culture. Plus, I also represent as the ONLY PLUS MODEL in the entire Art Hearts Fashion Show Spring 2015.

New York Fashion Week 2014 walking for the amazing Portland based designer Kenneth Doswell of Betty Jean Couture was an honor. I meet Kenneth at Full-Figured Fashion 2014 when he won designer of the year. His spring/summer 2015 collection exemplified why he won the award. The collection is well tailored to any women's body shape especially one with curves such as myself. The colors were bright, vibrant, and the material moved freely in movement
I look forward to working with Kenneth and his team again for the upcoming fashion season.
Being featured in Ebony Magazine was an amazing piece of being apart of Full-Figured Fashion Week. I'm wearing a custom made two piece from Lift Island Fashion & Trend by designer Nancy Elizabeth Thompson. Makeup by the Lipstick Bandit based in Brooklyn.

Full Figured Fashion Week is like NYFW but for Plus Size Models..a HUGE comparison but a true one!! Guess What? This plus model, Priscilla Katerena, was selected to walk at FFF Week for their last production in NYC..very bitter sweet! I am truly honored to be amongst the 5% of models who went to the casting and were selected.
